Rothwell United Church is a modest church with a sanctuary originally seating 325 with additional space for a 40 person choirs. It was originally constructed on the eastern edge of its neighbourhood, eventually ending up in the north central portion of the Beacon-Hill South, south of Montreal Road (so its technically not in Rothwell Heights proper).
To reflect its suburban location, the church features a 1-storey low slung design with meeting rooms and support spaces placed around a centrally-placed sanctuary. This arrangement provides better natural light access for the spaces that surround the sanctuary and enhances its north-south axis with large windows tucked under the gable ends.
Structurally, the building features a concrete buttress frame and a precast concrete roof.
An addition, which was provided for in the original plan was construction at the south end of the building between 1976 and 1991 (geoOttawa).
