Located at the end of Woodroffe Avenue, Our Lady of Fatima Roman Catholic Church makes an impression in its surrounding context with its red clay roof and brick facade.
On the north facade, the building features a parabolic concrete arch that frames the entryway and surrounding glazing. The windows on the east and west facades sit above concrete panels instead of brick, and span the entire height of the building, directly to the underside of the eaves.
Perhaps the most engaging element of the church is the bell tower that sits at the north-west of the site. The otherwise brick tower has a single vertical strip of carefully proportioned concrete panels that widen only at the tower’s peak. The mullions used at the top of the tower are dark and thin, as opposed to those used on the east and west windows. The tower is capped by a copper flashing, that is not used anywhere else in the building.
