1972 - Canada's longest running community theatre.

The Ottawa Little Theatre is the longest continuously running community theatre in Canada. The organization started in 1913 as the Ottawa Drama League (ODL), and found their home in what is now the Canadian Museum of Nature. In 1928, the ODL moved to its current location at 400 King Edward after purchasing and renovating the Eastern Methodist Church. A fire in 1970 completely destroyed the original building, and the Ottawa Little Theatre promptly secured funding through fundraising to build a replacement theatre on the same site, as it stands today.

The building occupies the corner of Besserer St. and King Edward Ave., sitting modestly low amidst an increasingly densifying part of the city. A notable feature of the modest brick building is the steeply pitched metal-clad roof, which makes use of several different tones of brown metal panels.
