Competing with the grandeur of the Strathcona Apartments next door isn’t an easy task, but the tower’s unique qualities certainly make itself an opponent. The building only has two units per floor, which is made impressive due to the balconies on both the front and rear facades. The building is clad in brown brick and smooth concrete. Windows extend floor to ceiling, even at grade where the windows meet a very short curb.
The balconies wrap around the units on the Laurier facade, creating a very strong, stepped effect. The balconies and their short knee-walls are made from bright concrete, which contrasts against the brown brick. Attached to the concrete knee-walls are dark metal railings. The entrance to the building is marked by two brick walls that form a short corridor leading to a single door, a pathway of precast paving stones leads to the entry.
