Bell Canada Place is a 27-storey office tower and parking garage in the heart of downtown Ottawa clad in precast concrete pilasters to accentuate the height of the building.

Located on Elgin Street directly across from the Ottawa Courthouse, the building was completed in 1971 and renamed “One60 Elgin” in 2017 after substantial renovations and various changes in ownership. The parking garage on the Metcalfe Street side of the complex was rebuilt in the 1980’s after road salt corroded the original steel structure.

For a building of its height, the office tower has a massive floorplate, taking up the entire width from Nepean St. to Gloucester St. and over half of the depth from Elgin to Metcalfe. With other more recent developments, such as another office tower directly to the north and various condos to the south, the scale of One60 Elgin has certainly become less dramatic in the past decade.
