Centrally located in the downtown core, the National Building is a 13-storey office building clad in orange brick. A concrete ledge runs the length of the facade at grade, and is split to make way for a stair leading to the main entrance. The tower sits on top of ground floor commercial space, a thick concrete band forms the base and cornice for the tower portion.
The building’s intricate brick facade wraps completely around the T-shaped building, unlike the neighbouring Savoy Hotel, which only has a decorative facade fronting Slater Street. Access from Laurier Avenue W. leads to the rear of the building, which houses parking at grade underneath the building.
The National Building was recently purchased, and is one of many offices in Centretown set to be converted from office to residential use.
