The St. Monica Chapel is a very unique church in the Nepean area. It was built at the same time as St. Maurice’s Roman Catholic church, which serves the north side of Nepean.

The building features a unique form that appears more similar to a custom residential home than a church. The facade on Merivale Road has a single small operable window, and plays with volumetric forms and narrow windows. The building has a monopitch roof that slopes towards the parking lot, giving the street-facing side an atypical profile.

The building is clad in yellow brick and bluish-grey metal siding. On the parking lot side of the building, the outermost face of brick columns are clad with the metal, creating a nice visual contrast.
