Simard Hall houses the Faculty of Arts, French Department, Department of Geography and Academic Services.

During the 90s, the construction of Hamelin Hall created a courtyard with the L-shaped Simard Hall, the two buildings have overhead connections at two points in their now square plan.

The building features a similar material palette and amount of detail to Vanier Hall across the campus, which is unsurprising as both were built at similar times.

Notable details on Simard Hall are found around the main entry that faces the canal, which includes various carved stones and decorative mullions. The east-facing entry, though not as extravagant, serves as the next most detailed location of the building, with glass block windows above the canopy.
