The Herzberg Laboratories are located just outside of Carleton University’s main quad, next to the Tory Building. The building has 3 sections which join together at the central entrance, which is marked by its light concrete cladding.

The rest of the building is clad in dark brown brick, and features concrete columns on the exterior, raised off the the facade. Each wing of the building differs slightly, whether it be window placement or spandrel panel. The slight differentiations give the building a more dynamic presence on campus. The materiality and form of the building resembles that of many other Carleton buildings, including the Steacie Building, Southam Hall, and the Mackenzie Building. The Herzberg Laboratories is home to the School of Computer Science, the School of Mathematics and Statistics, the Department of Physics, Department of Earth Sciences, the Environmental Science program, Integrated Science program, and the Faculty of Science Dean’s Office. An addition to the building was completed in the early 2010s, which features new study areas for students and additional classrooms.
