219 Laurier Ave. West, also known as the Canadian Building, is a 14 storey office building in Centretown, right next to the Ottawa Public Library.
The office portion of the building is clad with rough concrete panels between which are individual windows, forming a consistent pattern around the building. At the corners of the building on the East and West facade, the pattern is broken as the windows are doubled.
The ground floor commercial space is recessed quite significantly. On each side at the ground floor, the building features the same raised hexagonal concrete block pattern featured at the entry of the Stonecliffe Apartments, build two years prior to 219 Laurier.
